The mask shown above is a "cup" style NIOSH-approved respirator mask. The mask is held securely to your face with two elastic straps that go behind your head, providing a comfortable fit over your nose and mouth. An adjustable nose piece and inner foam layer provide a custom seal for different facial shapes and sizes. The exhalation valve reduces heat and moisture build-up inside the mask, making it last much longer than masks without a valve. It also provides more comfortable breathing and prevents eyeglass fogging. If you plan to wear the mask for several hours, on an overseas flight, for example, this valve lets your moist breath escape, minimizing skin irritation. N95 face masks with a valve are designed to be worn for up to eight hours, depending on the environment and should be carefully thrown away (without touching the outside of the mask) immediately after using. "Health Canada" advises that this mask can be worn until it becomes wet, damaged, soiled, or breathing becomes difficult. The N95 face masks without an exhalation valve do not last as long as the masks with a valve. The reason for this is that moisture from your breath causes the inside of the mask to become wet much faster. Carefully discard the mask when it becomes wet, soiled, damaged or breathing becomes difficult. Do not touch the outside of the mask because you might contaminate your fingers. Carefully remove the mask by using only the straps, then wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Masks without an exhalation valve are recommended for short term use, such as going to the grocery store, post office, bank, etc. |

N95 Face Mask
The Centers For Disease Control & Prevention(CDC) has recommended the use of N95 face masks for protection against the Avian Bird Flu virus
Here are the symptoms of Bird Flu in humans according to the CDC:
The death rate of the reported cases of Bird Flu, so far, is more than 50%.
Because the face mask is fluid resistant, it also aids in reducing the potential exposure of the wearer to blood and other body fluids. Also effective against smoke and dust. It is not effective against aerosols containing oil.
For biological terrorist attacks, United States Senator Bill Frist, a physician and public health expert, recommended in his recent book, "When Every Moment Counts," that people should have face masks rated "N95" or better for each family member.
People who are sick with a communicable disease should wear face masks without the exhalation valve to help prevent transmission of the disease to other people.
Do not use this mask for filtering gases or vapors, including those present in paint spraying operations, oil aerosols, asbestos or sandblasting. This respirator does not supply oxygen.
