This radio requires two size "AA" batteries (not included).
There are two LED (light emitting diode) indicators. When the red one is lit, the radio is turned on. When the green one is lit, it means that you are tuned to a station. The more accurately you tune to a station, the brighter the green light is.
There is a pull-out flap on the rear of the radio that lets you tilt the radio to a convenient angle on a table or desk.
A 19-inch telescopic antenna is located on top of the radio and is used for FM and shortwave listening. A powerful built-in ferrite antenna is for AM listening.
Earphones are included for private listening.
Other features are an off-on switch (independent of the volume control) and a tuning wheel (on the right side). The volume control, earphone jack and 3-volt power jack are located on the left side of the radio. The band selector is on the front of the radio.
If you don't want to use the batteries, the 3-volt jack can be used to operate the radio from a 110-volt household plug. A 3-volt AC adapter is not included, but is available at stores such as Radio Shack. All of the controls operate smoothly.
Also included is a velvet-like pouch with a draw-string to protect the radio from dust, dirt, scratching or other damage.
